“The human gut microbiome has a long-standing evolutionary relationship with humans that was founded upon a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Our studies of the gut microbiome of ancient North Americans and modern hunter-gatherers reveals evidence that the ancestral human microbiome “disappearing” in the industrialized world. This seminar will discuss this evidence and its implications for metabolic health, obesity, and diabetes.”
