About Tongjun Gu

Dr. Gu is an Associate Scientist in UF Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research and a courtesy faculty in UF Department of Biostatistics. She is a member of Division of Quantitative Sciences, UF Health Cancer Center, and a member of UF Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics. Dr. Gu obtained her B.S. on Biomedicine Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Ph.D. on Bioinformatics from Institute of Biophysics Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. Then she came to US and did her Postdoc training in The Jackson Laboratory. Before she joined UF, she worked in University of Chicago as a Research Professional.

Research Profile

Dr. Gu’s search focuses on developing and applying Artificial Intelligence algorithms and statistical models, particularly deep learning and machine learning, for understanding the complex biological systems and human diseases. She has intensive training and experiences on genetics, genomics, epigenetics, genome wide association studies, cancer biology, RNA sciences and alzheimer’s disease. She is particularly interested in integrating multi-omics data into one model to study their interactions and identify the key elements and the interactions caused the disease to assist the early diagnosis and personalized treatment.
